I’ve always wanted a mug of butterbeer. And firewhisky when I turn 17. Tsk tsk Harry, what a bad influence you have! http://bit.ly/13o8nT

Amar Chitra Katha Comic Books Seek New Life as TV Cartoons! → nytimes.com

I’m quite excited about these upcoming cartoons.  I haven’t read Amar Chitra Katha comics since third grade, but I still remember curling up in bed to read about Birbal’s latest quest, using his wit to solve all the mysteries of Akbar’s court.  And even tales of Angulimala (Necklace of Fingers) and queens who escape lonely days in castles by hiding in boxes of sweets for the villagers — it was kind of a culture and history thing for me, now that I think about it.  Since they were in English, the stories were one of the bridges my parents provided me and my sister with to learn about our culture. And hey!  It’s an amazing example of media convergence (yes, that’s Mass Communication and Its Impact on Society making its mark.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Amar Chitra Katha books show up in a future edition of my textbook for the class - it already mentions Bollywood - obviously - and Kasautii Zindagii Kay - typical Indian soap with the most twisted family lines ever.  Think The O.C., but ten times more complicated.)

“You know it’s been said that we just don’t recognize the significant moments of our lives while they are happening. We grow complacent with ideas, or things or people and we take them for granted and it’s usually not until that thing is about to be taken away from you that you’ve realized how wrong you’ve been that you realized how much you need it, how much you love it. God, I love this game.” - THE O.C.” —

I think scriptwriters say profound things.  I think I watch way too much TV.

(Currently watching: 3rd season of The O.C. yeaaaaaahhh)
